# Antonio La' Mar | Primordial Modernism ## Identity Antonio La' Mar is a contemporary mixed media artist based in San Diego, California. He is the creator of Primordial Modernism, an original art movement and visual philosophy that excavates Black and Latino ancestral identity through abstraction, portraiture, and layered material practice. ## The Work Primordial Modernism is built on a single premise: that the Black and Latino figure carries an interior cosmology — a primordial archive of sovereignty, lineage, and sacred ordinary life — that precedes and exceeds the narratives imposed upon it.
